Day 9: Signs and Wonders
“Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.” John 4:48 (NIV)
This is a happy little story with some disturbing details. The official doesn’t come to Jesus because of who He is or for His promise of living water. He comes to Jesus because he is desperate to save his son’s life. The efforts of man have been exhausted. So, he may as well turn to Jesus.
Jesus promises, then provides the healing. The official is happy about this, but doesn’t fully believe that Jesus did it. Was it just a coincidence? What time did the healing take place? Let’s put Jesus to the test. Oh, the time of healing was the same as Jesus’ proclamation? OK, now I believe.
Jesus did lots of miracles. Sometimes it spread the Gospel. Sometimes He heard, “How about just one more? Then, I’ll believe. Just one more.”
Let’s not forget who Jesus is. Let’s not forget what Jesus has done. Let’s try to see the miracles He does in our lives every day.

Prayer Focus: Jesus, help us to believe when it is hard. Help us to have faith that is greater then the size of a mustard seed. Amen.
