Day 34: You Are Never Alone
"When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me." John 15:26 (NIV)
I recall learning about a group of boys that lived long ago that in order to become men, were required to spend a night, unarmed and alone, in the wilderness.
One can only imagine the sounds of the night time and what tricks those sounds must have played in the minds of those young boys. It must have truly been a long, long night.
But according to the stories, as the morning light began to break through the darkness the first sight the boys saw was their fathers, watching over the boys all night long.
In John 15, Jesus, who is always truthful, reminds us that there are going to be times when things are going to be hard. We are going to face persecution, disappointment, and out and out hatred, just because we have chosen to follow Jesus.
But added to that reality is this truth, you will never have to face those hard times alone, the Holy Spirit will always be with us.
