Day 46: Gone Fishing
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.

I know some great fisherman that when they need to clear their thoughts they go fishing. They tell me it is a time to be quiet and, in those moments, troubles become a less dominating thought and healthier thoughts can take over. Peter announces he is going fishing and the fishing trip is on. Maybe Peter was feeling the need to go do something to take his mind off the challenges of the day.
Jesus directs the disciples from the shore where to fish and these unaware pro fishermen do not realize it is Jesus. They do as he tells them, and they receive the catch of the day. Jesus prepared a meal of fish and bread and they participated and again really did nothing but show up and listen. We have showed up for each day’s devotional (big thank you to Lindy Collins and all who spent time reflecting and writing these devotionals) and need to ask ourselves are we listening to God’s message? Were you changed by our time in God’s word or is this just another activity we do? Will you continue to allow God to feed you with his word each day? Adding more time for God’s word gives opportunity for healthier God inspired thoughts to take over. The catch of the day is found in God’s Word!
