Day 31: The Way, the Truth, & the Life
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6 (NIV)
John 14:6 (NIV)
We can identify with the disciples when they ask the questions that Thomas and Philip ask: "Where are you going Lord?" and "show us the Father." Jesus answers Thomas with my favorite Bible verse (John 14:6) a declaration that sums it up for all mankind. Jesus IS the only way to the Father. Then Philip follows up with "ok show us the Father and we'll believe." Patient Jesus answers them both with kindness and love.
If I had seen Jesus' miracles, would I have asked these same questions? Probably. We as humans want tangible evidence of things to satisfy us and Jesus understands that. Jesus explains that He and the Father are one (you see Me, you see the Father). But what about after the resurrection for those of us who have not seen Jesus in the flesh? Jesus has supplied us with his truth (the Bible) so that if we have faith and trust in Him he will grant us what we ask in His name.
