Centenary Christmas Devotional - 2009
Read Luke 2:8-14

Have you heard of Billy Graham, the well known evangelist? I began reading his autobiography, Just as I Am and I have been in awe of the incredible ways God worked in his life. One example is the many doors God opened using Billy Graham to spread the gospel all over the world. In our Scripture today, we are reminded of who the message of Jesus is for: The angel told the shepherds that the good news was for all the people. This message was not simply for the Jewish community, but would go beyond to the ends of the earth.
This Christmas, our church has sent over 220 shoeboxes filled with toys, candy, school supplies and hygiene products through Operation Christmas Child, an organization ran by Billy Graham’s son, Franklin Graham. Children all over the world will receive these boxes and will be presented with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Like Billy Graham & Franklin Graham, we also can help share the good news all over the world!

- In verse 11, how did the angel refer to Jesus?
- Have you ever had the opportunity to share your testimony about Jesus to others? How did it go?
Suggested Prayer: Pray for the children around the world receiving the Shoeboxes from Operation Christmas Child. Pray for them to come to know Jesus as their Savior.
Christmas Thoughts from Brenda R.
Unlike past Christmases where the tree over flowed with gifts, lights, and tinsel, this current holiday hits many of us with less financial security. Like a fading fire with ambers dimly glowing, the heat reduces to warmth then cooling. Yet, I glance beyond the here and now, into our Lord's loving arms. As author, Gina Bria, suggests, I realize my job is to give gifts of love and in hopeful expectation receive the gifts God wishes for my family to receive, not to live in the absence of gifts, but in the
future of God's good gifts to come. Our Lord warms my heart with gifts that matter like family spending time together, like smiles and laughter, like enjoyment, like being loved.
