Christmas Devotional Revisited 2022
December 2nd
Centenary Christmas Devotional from 2009
Read Luke 1:1-4
|
This Gospel is written by Luke who was believed to have been a physician. He wrote to Theophilus who may have been responsible for the distribution of this gospel. Luke’s introduction is similar to other historical works of his time.
Notice, Luke does not start out his gospel with “Once upon a time” or “In a land far, far away.” Luke is sharing with us a “carefully investigated” historical event that he presents as fact. His words are not fiction or a fairy tale, but a presentation of God’s miraculous work that began with a baby.

- Who was the information handed down from (vs. 2)
- What does Luke want Theophilus to have “certainty” about? (vs. 4)
- What are some ways we get distracted from looking at the “historical” origin of Christmas?
Suggested Prayer: Pray for those in the military who are spending their Christmas away from their families.
A Special Christmas Gift Memory from Robbie C.
Many years ago Inadell Nelson gave me four very small precious pewter angels. I do not know the monetary value, but they are priceless to me as is Inadell's memory. Each Christmas when they are among my other angels, I feel her presence.
