Day 32: Order to Our Chaos
“If you love me, keep my commands." John 14:15 (NIV)
As a parent loves, guides and provides for his children, so Jesus promises his presence and more for those who love him through obedience to his word.
As children often do, we choose to test those boundaries Jesus so lovingly provides. We experience the natural consequences of our sin and wonder what went wrong.
If you love him, Jesus promises that he will come to you and not leave you; that you will see him; that he will live in you; you will be loved by the Father; that the Father and the Son will make their home with you; he will send the Holy Spirit to dwell in, teach and remind you of all Christ has said; and you will receive his peace. All you have to do is love and obey him.
Obedience to Jesus’ commands brings order to our chaos, peace to our hearts, grows our faith, and extends honor and worship to our Creator.
Jesus obeyed the Father in everything, even to the cross. Why, because our sin and ultimate salvation, required his sacrifice. Contemplate today, this kind of obedience, and love Jesus in return.
