Day 28: He Proved His Love For Us
"I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it." John 12:47 (NLT)
In verse 47 Jesus says “I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it.”
He has said those words before. In John chapter 3, in those very familiar verses, Jesus said “For this is now God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world but to save the world through him.”
For some reason those words are hard for us to grasp, God does not condemn us - God is not angry with us - God does not hate us . . . God loves us.
I don’t know why we struggle to believe that. I don’t know what more God could do to show us his love; he came, he taught us of his love, and he died to set us free. He showed us his love, he spoke of his love, and he proved his love for us.
But where he focuses on his love for us, we tend to focus on our failures and all of our reasons why God shouldn’t love us.
If you are doing that, focusing on your failures, tread lightly my friend, tread lightly. For you are speaking ill of someone God loves more than you and I can even imagine.
