Centenary Church Core Beliefs
At Centenary Church, we believe
IN GOD…
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – the one and only true God, three persons dwelling in perfect oneness for all eternity. (Deuteronomy 5:6-7, Isaiah 6:3, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2, Revelation 1:8)
IN GOD THE FATHER…
The Creator of Heaven and Earth and Giver of Life, ever-present, all-knowing and all-powerful. (Genesis 1:1-2:2, Psalm 139:1-10, Psalm 147:5, Revelation 19:6)
IN GOD THE SON…
Christ Jesus is our Lord and Savior, fully God and fully man, through whose physical death and bodily resurrection our sins are forgiven, and we receive eternal life, and through whom we can have a personal relationship with God. (Matthew 1:21, Mark 1:10-11, John 3:16, 34-36)
IN GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT…
God’s Spirit lives within every believer, uniting us as the one Body of Christ, and guiding and empowering us to live a lifestyle of good works as we respond to God’s grace. (John 14:16-17, John 16:13)
IN SALVATION…
We are sinners from birth who are saved only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by anything we do. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, 1 John 5:11-12)
IN THE BIBLE...
The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired and perfect Word of God and are and always will be the final authority for life and faith. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17, Joshua 1:8)
IN THE GREAT COMMANDMENT…
We are called to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. (Mark 12: 30-31, Matthew 22:37-39)
IN THE GREAT COMMISSION…
We are called to share the Truth of Jesus Christ in word and action in our home, neighborhood, community, nation and world. (Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19-20)
