I feel it is important to note that Zechariah was a priest and this encounter took place in the temple. It serves as a reminder that even we who attend church regularly can have doubts about God’s promises.
Even today, after all that we have seen God do, we doubt His Word and faithfulness. The Israelites continued to doubt God after He allowed Moses to part the Red Sea and they were made to wander the desert for 40 days. In this passage, Zechariah’s disbelief led to him being mute until the fulfillment of God’ promise (the birth of John the Baptist). I believe that we miss out on so much in life because we have little faith and doubt God. So much stress and worry could be gone if we could only learn to trust God with all our hearts and minds.

2. Can you think of a time where you did not trust God and endured hardship?

A Special Christmas Gift Memory from Brian Ralston, Associate to the Pastor
When I was 9 years old, all that I wanted for Christmas was a puppy. My parents, who were very anti-family-pet, made it clear that there was "NO WAY" that we were ever getting a dog. On Christmas morning, though they had gotten me other amazing gifts, I sat sadly on the floor, as there was no puppy. Then, my Dad disappeared from the living room. He released the 8 week old mixed breed pup at the back door, and he ran straight to me, jumped into my life, and Beauregard (Beau) and I were best pals for the next 13 years.
(And just so you know, by the time I went off to college, my anti-family-pet parents had given Beau his own bedroom, treated him like royalty, and even kept a car that was best for the dog to ride in!)
