Day 38 – July 14th, 2021
Read Acts 19:1-22

Helpful Background
After some time had passed, the apostle Paul launched what would be known as his third missionary journey to undo some damage that had been done to the young Churches in Asia Minor and Macedonia by the enemies of the Gospel. Paul also intended to reach many new people by being strategic in how and where he preached, and who he trained to continue the mission of reaching the lost for Jesus Christ.  He again set out from Antioch in Syria, but traveled this time to the major city on the west coast of Asia Minor, Ephesus.

Questions - (19:4-7) How did Paul differentiate between the ministry/baptism of John the Baptist and Jesus? What did John the Baptist himself proclaim about Jesus? How did the men respond?  What happened when Paul laid his hands on them?  Why is this significant?

Who was instrumental in your life in helping you to meet and/or follow Jesus? 
Pastor Bill & Sylvia C. served my small-town Pennsylvania Church for ten years during my childhood.  Pastor Bill had been a farmer, but had felt the call into pastoral ministry later in life.  He had no formal education, but knew the Bible better than anyone I had ever known.  He believed that the Bible was the authoritative Word of God, and tried to faithfully obey and follow the scriptures.  He practiced what he preached.
Pastor Bill believed in God’s power to “fix broken things,” and was the first adult to fully explain the brokenness that sin causes in all of us.  I knew God loved me, I knew that God had already saved me from cancer, and I knew that God would help me overcome my visual impairment.  But thanks to Pastor Bill’s specific challenge to me, I prayed to accept the amazing grace of God as given to me in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
