Respond to the Scripture reading with your thoughts, questions, and/or prayer response to today’s Bible verses.
Who was instrumental in your life in helping you to meet and/or follow Jesus?
I have always known about Jesus (and God) but didn't really get to know Him for a good portion of my life. I was born into a Catholic family, christened, confirmed, attended parochial school and Catholic High School always striving to be perfect so God would love me. Let me just say that trying to be perfect is hard work. I was constantly on edge, always afraid of falling short.
In my forties, my husband and I moved to a very small town in Northern California to establish our ranch. While there I attend the local Methodist Church and listening to our Pastor I discover - no matter how hard I try, I will never be perfect. It's impossible. But the best part is I don't have to be in order to follow God. He loves me just the way I am. Can you imagine my relief when I finally got that? Some of you may be thinking, wow, it took her long enough. Better late than never! Now, I recognize and accept my own imperfections, they allow me to be human, to laugh at myself and accept others on this human level.
So, today, being a Christian and striving to be a good person is who I am. I know from many personal experiences God loves and is always with me.
