Our first month of 2012 was full of fun learning experiences. It was a good month to learn about winter weather. We experienced some very cold, frosty mornings for which we had to really bundle up. We read some great books about cold, snowy weather. The children learned that in some areas it snows so much that people can't leave their homes to go to school or work. In these areas people have to shovel the snow off their walkways and driveways, while snowplows have to shovel the snow off the streets. In the freezing climate people have to wear warm clothing and sometimes several layers to stay warm and dry. We are so thankful that it's not that cold here.
We had a great time getting a taste of the snowy weather on "Jack Frost Day" when we brought in bags of snow ice. The children had a great time playing in the snow. They made snowballs and snow angels. Although there was just a small patch of snow, the children had a whole lot of fun with this great sensory experience.
For chapel we talked about how God made all of us. In many ways we are alike and in many ways different. The important thing to remember is that God made each one of us special and unique. He wants us to love and appreciate one another. We're so thankful for all of our wonderful families at Centenary. We're so glad that you are a part of our preschool family. The Lord has truly blessed us with you and your precious children.

The children learned so much about other cultures the last three weeks of January. They experienced some of the food, costumes, language, music and customs of each country, including Spain, Mexico, Philippines, Yemen, Puerto Rico and Japan. We want to thank all of you for bringing food items so we could experience cooking and tasting some of the food from each culture. I also want to thank those who brought books, clothing, music and pictures from their cultural backgrounds. It was so interesting learning from where each family's ancestors came. Once again, we appreciate your participation and full support.
Valentine's Day On Tuesday, February 14, we will be having our Valentine's Day party. Each child will have a container for their valentines. The teachers will let you know how many valentines your child will need. Please help your child sign who the valentine is from only. The teachers will help the children distribute the valentines into the containers, making sure no one is left out. The teachers will put out a sign-up sheet for whatever is needed for the party. Thanks again for your support.
